Post: Teaching Assistant x 2 – Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2

Salary: Grade 4. SCP 5 - 7 (£18,795 - £19,554)* Pro rata   *based on new NJC grading April 2019 

Hours: 25 hrs per week 

Term time only

Contract: To start ASAP. The post will be reviewed (July 2019) with the possibility of a permanent contract.

 

The Governors of Collingwood Primary School are seeking to appoint a hardworking, highly motivated and committed Teaching Assistant to join our strong, supportive and friendly team. We are particularly interested in applications from candidates experienced at working with children with additional needs. The successful candidate will be required to work on a 1:1 basis part of the day and in class for the rest of the day. Experience of working with children with challenging behaviour, special needs and disabilities is desirable.

The role will include:

  • One to one support of a child with additional needs
  • Taking part in regular performance management and supervision.
  • Participating in reflection, dialogue and problem solving discussions with small groups of staff.
  • Playground duty
  • Lunch club duty
  • Working in the classroom with the class teacher
  • Making optimum use of observations to plan effective learning sequences for the child
  • Working closely with parents
  • Effective use of ICT
  • Applicants must:
  • promote and safeguard the welfare of children;
  • ensure high expectations for children’s learning are maintained through responding to children’s individual needs during child initiated play;
  • have excellent interpersonal skills
  • be committed to working effectively and restoratively with colleagues; volunteers, parents, children and visitors;
  • be highly motivated, enthusiastic and supportive team players;
  • Full and relevant Level 2 (NVQ level 2 equivalent) qualification
  • GCSE Maths & English A-C grades (or equivalent)

In future, the successful candidate may be expected to work cross the HCAT community of schools.
